September's meeting was all about craftivism, a blend of activism and crafts. Committee member (and VP and campaign rep) Lucy gave us the talk and explained how she has been able to participate in political activism from deepest Lincolnshire and Norfolk from the comfort of her front room. Lucy told us how she had written … Continue reading Craftivism – September Meeting
sTEAmPunk
The August Bank Holiday was the annual Asylum Steampunk festival centred in the Bail in Lincoln. For the second year the Lincoln WI took over St Mary Magdalene's church serving tea (and coffee and juice) to thirsty Steampunk-ers and raising money for local charities. Enthusiastic members of the WI got into the spirit and came … Continue reading sTEAmPunk
Nina’s Denman Trip
Lucky Lincoln WI member Nina won the inaugural Denman bursay and chose to go on a stone carving course. Here she tells us of her experience, and share some great photos: Well, what a lovely weekend. Lots of tasty food, tea and cake - the best short bread biscuits I've ever tasted! All the other ladies … Continue reading Nina’s Denman Trip
Will He Bee Back?
August's WI Meeting was a second talk from local bee keeper Simon Croson, after the success of his previous talk a few months earlier the summer social was sacrificed for 'Products of the Hive'. Tea & Tents 2016
The annual WI camping extravaganza Tea and Tents was on the hottest weekend of the year, and fortunately reasonably locally for the Lincoln WI over the county border in Nottinghamshire, Walesby. 11 intrepid campers headed off, but due to illness not everyone was eventually able to attend for the whole weekend, and what a weekend … Continue reading Tea & Tents 2016
What a Bee-sy Meeting!
The May meeting saw us host local beekeeper Simon Croson, and there were lots of guests, although we resisted the urge to sing the Arthur Askey Bee song and a rousing rendition of Jerusalem was sung. The meeting also was a time for this year's resolutions to be debated, which was done admirably by Danni and Lucy, however, … Continue reading What a Bee-sy Meeting!
Heart Cushions for Cancer Patients

These cushions provide physical support for women who have had breast surgery. Currently the hospital gets through about 10 cushions a week, so whilst storage is tight demand is quite high. Nina has … Continue reading Heart Cushions for Cancer Patients

Crafting at Our April Meeting
A late notice change of plan led to our April Meeting being a Craft Event, lead by members of the Committee. Nina demonstrated clay moulding, and arrived with a huge block of clay ready to be squidged and squashed into delightful animals. Danni showed us how to decorate cup-cakes with icing mould and GIN. Lara … Continue reading Crafting at Our April Meeting
Book Review: Women in Thirteenth Century Lincolnshire
Avid reader, and Lincoln WI member, Wendy Hope, reviews Women in Thirteenth Century Lincolnshire by Louise J Wilkinson. As a ‘yellow belly’ with a keen interest in women’s history, I was delighted when Lincoln WI invited me to read and review Louise J. Wilkinson’s book Women in the Thirteenth-Century Lincolnshire. The book offers an insight into … Continue reading Book Review: Women in Thirteenth Century Lincolnshire
