January is always an awkward month for Lincoln WI, our meetings, on the first Thursday, come straight after a busy festive period, this year we decided to move the meeting to the second Thursday of the month. This gave members a slower start to the year, unfortunately the delayed meeting coincided with freezing conditions, but Lincoln WI members are hardy and stalwart and more than up to braving a bit of cold weather and snow. Two members even cycled to the meeting!
We like to start the year with a health/fitness focused meeting and this year Nicola from Your Sole Coach came to talk about reflexology and give some mini treatments to lucky members. Whilst the Grandstand was cool we had a really lovely intimate meeting where Nicola explained reflexology and gave some simple tips we could try at home. Whilst the thought of feet can be off putting, placing the palm of your hand on the sole of a loved one’s foot can be very comforting and jiggly the foot by shaking the ankle bone surprisingly relaxing.
Nicola spoke about reading people’s feet, which is similar to palm reading and how the different parts of the foot relate to different parts of the body.
She did mini treatments for Joy and Faith, pictured below who both braved the chill and took their shoes and socks off. It was a great start to the year and we are looking forward to our next meeting which will be making felt hearts for the annual Climate Coalition Show the Love Month February awareness raising.
Our next meeting will be on 6 February at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start at the Grandstand, Carholme Road. Bring a mug – free for members, £5 for guests
