In March a last minute change to a change saw us hosting Amy from Lincoln Book Festival.

Amy gave us a potted history of the festival which has the continuous theme of “History at its Heart” although official records have only been kept since 2015 the festival has been going a lot longer and has drawn big name writers such as Tracy Borman, Will Self and Miranda Seymour.

The Festival has had several iterations, including going on line in 2020, and then stretching over 3 weeks in 2023, although this year it will be condensed back down again, and will hopefully include more workshops such as poetry slams and writing workshops.

Amy then told us about the novel she has written, which is a magical-realism book based on van Gogh’s Starry Night Over The Rhone and an imagining of the lives of the figures in the painting (below).

We are very much looking forward to the book festival later this year and hopefully members will be able to get to lots of the events.
