Back in November Sophie from Colonia Heritage came to speak to us about the parts of Lincoln that are hidden.
There was the obvious discussion of Newport Arch, but also the granite circles marking the sub surface remains of Roman columns. These circles are clearly visible in modern day Lincoln in the Bailgate area.
We heard about the wall on the Bight, which no one is sure whether it’s an external or internal wall, but there are holes where internal supports for ceiling might have been. The Posterngate now hidden under a bank
Sophie went on to talk about how Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was based on Lincoln, which the gamers of Lincoln WI were very pleased about.
We also found out about a Roman ditch in Terrace Gardens, an old Roman water tank and were left mystified about how the Romans water supply to Lincoln from quite away away.
