Yes, you read that right, due to a last minute change of plan we had a sports day/night.
The three legged race was out – due to health and safety concerns, but in were: an egg (potato to save food waste) and spoon race; a quiz; seated carpet bowls; balloon tennis; and throwing balls into pots!
Whilst it may not have involved any Olympic sports, do not under estimate the determination of a group of grown women striding across the Grandstand balancing a potato on a spoon, or batting a balloon.
The joker round was forgotten by some teams, which meant there was a slight unfair advantage, but Team – well I don’t know who won as I went to the loo at the wrong time!
The winners got a certificate and a rose, and the satisfaction of being winners.
The Lincoln WI
