We were really pleased to welcome Lincoln’s leading drag artist Celine Begone (Arran) back in September.
Arran was an amazing speaker, he arrived in his normal attire and as he spoke to us proceeded to apply copious amounts of make-up at lightning speed, unlike on RuPaul’s Drag Race, where the competitors seem to take forever to put on their make up. In front of us he tranformed to Celine. This was remarkably swift, Celine explained that he didn’t spend a fortune his outfits and the most expensive item he had was the pink frilled jacket (below) which had been hand made.
He spoke about his difficulties when coming out as gay, and how he had fallen into drag before becoming Lincoln’s leading queen, working all over the City and beyond. It was quite moving at times.
The most impressive feat was a jump in 6 inch heels (above) which even made Sarah feel short. Celine drew the raffle and then vanished into the night to his next appointment, leaving most of us feeling under dressed and over whelmed.
