This is a round-up of February and March’s meetings.
February was our annual meeting, where the committee stood and down and in the main got re-elected. We welcomed Lucy & Wendy back to the committee and Alison as a new member. Sarah stood down and Maz took over as Secretary. Jenny remained as Treasurer and Lara was re-elected as President. We also had a talk from our Denman Ambassador who gave an insight into Denman and also told us about the Fed trip later this year.
March’s meeting was far more interesting! John Hewer of Hambledon Productions gave a great talk about his life as a writer/director/producer and actor and the great success of his Tommy Cooper show.

Whilst John didn’t look like Tommy Cooper, he had perfected his mannerisms and routines and the metal containers you can see in this picture contained a glass vase that was Tommy Coopers.
John spoke about his life in rural Lincolnshire and being given the opportunity to perform when he was younger and how he was trusted by the local theatre to put on plays. He also told us that he had been the catalyst for The Missing Hancocks (that the BBC had re-recorded) after reading the published scripts and thinking it would be good on stage.
There was trick that involved Lara …..

But I don’t really know what her role in it was, apart from giving us all someone to laugh at.
John was a great speaker and gave us great entertainment for the evening.
Next month look foward to the Archaeology of the Eastern Bypass!
