Lincoln WI’s President, Michelle, has been selected as the convener to the Lindum Group meetings. If that sounds like WI speak basically she organises larger meetings for WI Members in the North Lincolnshire catchment area, which different WI’s host. For her first meeting she managed the coup of getting celebrity vicar Rev. Kate Bottley, who had shot to fame on a Youtube video, and then  via Gogglebox on Channel 4 and Chris Evans BBC Radio 2 breakfast programme on the Pause for Thought segment, and a recent BBC programme about Judas Iscariot.

Kate was definitely an inspirational speaker, she told us about her journey to religion, her life as a school teacher and realisation that she should be ordained. She spoke frankly about the struggles that women face in the Church of England, and the reaction that she gets from being on TV and THAT Youtube video. Although the talk was far from serious and she regaled us with stories about naughty boys, unrepeatable stories about her ordination day and coping strategies for difficult moments. There was a very touching story about the burial of a close friend, which reduced some to near tears.

There was a short time afterwards for some questions and then Rev. Kate was more than happy to pose for photos, including selfies with Michelle and Katy, and the Hopes.

A great evening and a big well done to Michelle on the success of her first group meeting.
