March 2016 meeting coincided with World Book Day, so various members came in fancy dress and local poet John Welsh came and spoke to us about his writing and read out a selection of his poems. Some of these were interactive and Helen was selected in all her finery to be the second voice in a couple of of these, aimed at two readers.
John also spoke about the Human Library project, which a number of members were interested in, which is a project to encourage conversations and challenge stereotypes and prejudices.
The monthly competition was to write a limerick, and there were loads of entries, the winning one (by the President) is below:
When I first joined the WI,
I thought I’d kissed my street cred goodbye.
But with campaigns and cakes,
Buelesque, jam and bakes
I’m now WI ’till I die!
Now looking forward to April’s meeting which will be Support Dogs and the competition ‘Best Friends’. Look forward to seeing you there.
